About Met2 ~ General Philosophy
For Participants:
• Be proud of who you are and what you have done. Carry yourself with dignity and pride. You deserve it!
• Treat your fellow actors with respect and care. You are part of an ensemble, which is like being on the same team. Gossip, sniping, jealous behavior, and attitude make the Director unhappy.
• School is important. Keep up your grade average and be nice to your teacher.
• Never talk back to the Director, choreographer, pianist, your mother, your father, your grandparents, or your pets.
• The Director will make role assignments. Never discuss getting a lead part with the Director. Their decisions are final.
• Your parents pay for costumes. We try very hard to keep costs low. You must treat your costume with great care.
• Be on time. Come into rehersal quietly and be seated in the circle. Another group may still be rehearsing. Be polite and respectful.
• No gum, food, or drinks are allowed in rehearsals.
• If you have a cold or a sore throat, or some strange bug has attacked your voice, please stay home to take care of yourself and avoid spreading your illness to the rest of the cast.
• Don’t talk when the Director is speaking.
• Try very hard not to yawn in anyone’s face. It’s rude.
• Give your best during every workshop and rehearsal. Relax, enjoy, take a chance. Share your wonderful self!
• Check that you have not left anything in the rehearsal hall when leaving.
• Our program relises on the support of parents, relatives, and friends who fundraise and purchase tikets to see each performance. Please participate in some of our efforts to maintain the quality of work we produce for our students and your children.
• Rehearsal may sometimes run up to 15 minutes overtime. If your child was playing in a sports game, we doubt you would pull your child out of the game that had to run into overtime. We ask for the same courtesy. If possible, please allow us to finish working with your children. And hey, we won't even charge for the additional training time!
• Watch very closely for rehearsal dates and times when new schedules are distributed. If you miss a rehearsal date, it is your responsibility to get the new schedule. You'll always be told in advance when new schedule dates occur.
• Please remember to read announcements carefully and check your e-mail. We are sometimes required to change reheasal times or facilities. We try very hard to keep you posted on changes and activities. If you have any questions, please call the local voicemail number or speak to a parent volunteer at any rehearsal.
• It is our policy to allow parents to observe during registration and sometimes at the first rehearsal so that they may better understand the program. After that, rehearsals are closed to everyone but cast and staff.
• Parents may enroll, train, sing, dance, and act with their children. The registration fee for parents is the same as for children. Several hundred parents have enjoyed this unique opportunity in our program.
