To assure each child success experiences that will reflect unique talents and contributions. To increase each child's ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and as a listener sensitive to what others have to express. To develop an interest in and an understanding of theatre as an art form. To stimulate the child's creative imagination. To set standards of good speech and diction. To strengthen social values and increase group interaction skills. To encourage new interests, hobbies and productive use of leisure time. To develop and celebrate the creative abilities of young people in the community. To bring beauty and laughter into young lives, particularly to those who might otherwise have little of it.
Treat your fellow actors with respect and care. Gossip, sniping, jealous behavior and attitude make the Director see red. School grades are important. Keep up your grade average. Be nice to your teacher. Never talk back to the Director, choreographer, pianist, your mother, your father, your grandparents or your pets. The Director will make rol assignments. Never discuss getting a lead part with the Director. His decisions are final. Our program relies on the support of parents, relatives and friends who purchase tickets to see each performance. In order to be seated in the audience, you must have a ticket. Your parents pay for costumes. We try very hard to keep costs low. You must treat your costume with great care. Be on time. Come into rehearsal quietly and be seated in the circle. Another group may still be rehearsing. Be polite. No gum, food or drinks are allowed in rehearsals. If you have a cold or sore throat, or if some strange bug has attacked your voice, don't audition. Wait until later. Rehearsal may sometimes run up to 15 minutes overtime. There is no extra charge for this training! Be a teacher. Share your skills with your fellow actors. Help them with a step or correct a note. Don't talk when the Director is speaking. Try very hard not to yawn in anyone's face. It's rude. Give your best during every workshop and rehearsal. Relax, enjoy, take a chance. Share your wonderful self! Check that you have not left anything in the rehearsal hall. The Director once found a pair of jeans and a pair of tennis shoes. We hope the owner got home without catching cold! Watch very closely for rehearsal dates when new schedules are distributed. If you miss a rehearsal date, it is your responsibility to get the new schedule. You'll always be told in advance when the new schedule dates will occur. Please remember to read announcements carefully. We try very hard to keep you posted on changes and activities. If you have any questions please call the local voicemail number or speak to a parent volunteer at any rehearsal. It's our policy to allow parents to observe during the first rehearsal so they may understand the program better. After that, rehearsals are closed to everyone but cast and staff. Parents may enroll, train, sing, dance and act with their children. The registration fee for parents is the same as for children. Several hundred parents have enjoyed this unique opportunity in our program. District Offices in: |
